Update on COVID-19

Friday, July 17, 2020 Reopening Update for Nevada

Dear Legacy Families,

Legacy Traditional Schools is committed to creating a learning environment that supports student success, even in the face of new challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As we continue to prepare for the 2020-21 school year, we have more details to share about the start of school, changes to our blended learning weekly schedule, upcoming virtual Town Hall event, and our loaner laptop program.

Start of School

  • The first day of school will be Wednesday, Aug. 12.
  • All students will be required to attend online school from Aug. 12 – 21.
  • Students will use Schoology, Legacy’s online learning platform, to receive online instruction during this time. Students will be required to log in daily, or they will be marked absent.
  • Starting Aug. 24, students will continue the first quarter with the learning option they have selected i.e. blended or online.

Blended Learning Schedule

Students who have selected the blended learning option (in-person and online) will be separated into two tracks.

  • Red Track: Students attend school in-person on Mondays and Tuesdays, and receive online instruction the rest of the week
  • Blue Track: Students attend school in-person on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and receive online instruction the other days of the week

Once in-person learning starts on Aug. 24, the following schedule will be used:

With the revised schedule, please keep in mind the following details:

  • Students will be grouped into a track with their siblings.
  • You will receive your family’s track assignment in early August.
  • If you want to change your family’s track assignment, you may request a change after the assignment has been made. Please hold any requests until you receive your assignment. To ensure we follow physical distancing mandates by the state, your request may not be granted.
  • In addition to online instruction, Fridays will be reserved for students to receive tutoring and other services as needed.
  • Families will be able to sign up for before and after school care on the days their child is attending in-person learning only.

Legacy Safe Return to School FAQs

Safe Return to School Virtual Town Hall

Join us Thursday, July 23 at 5 p.m. for our Safe Return to School Virtual Town Hall on the Legacy Traditional Schools District Facebook page. We will be reviewing our back to school plans and answering your questions live.

We encourage you to submit your questions in advance by clicking the button below.

Laptop Loaner Program

Because all students will be completing school online for at least part of the week, you will have the option to borrow a laptop from your school.

  • This program is for families who need a loaner laptop. We have a limited quantity of laptops to lend out, but will do our best to ensure that students who need a laptop receive one.
  • Laptops are ordered, but schools don’t have them in stock yet. Please do not contact your school about borrowing a laptop.
  • You will receive additional communication about how to sign up for the program soon.
  • Laptops will be available for pick-up by the first week of school (at the latest).

Our goal is to make sure that all students have the ability to be successful during online learning. So, if you plan on purchasing a laptop, here are some details on what to look for when you go shopping. And remember you need it by Aug. 12.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we strive to provide an exceptional learning experience for our students. Please review our Safe Return to School page for more information about the 2020-21 school year.

Sincerely,
