Dear families,

Today, we are pleased to introduce you all to our new remote learning program. Although the COVID-19 pandemic and the school closures we face here at home are unsettling, our commitment to providing a high-quality education remains unchanged.

To provide students with quality instruction, videos and supporting resources have been created for students in their absence from school. Only with your support and constant communication with your children and their teachers will this be successful.

Please be patient with your child’s teachers and campus administrators for the first few weeks as we roll out remote learning. This is a first for many of us so we will all need to work together and be understanding as this is a learning curve for all stakeholders. Teachers will be trained Monday morning on the fine details so please hold off on sending them questions prior. All teachers will be in touch with you by Monday afternoon.

Also, each morning, at 8 a.m., please join our campuses for a flag ceremony via Facebook live. We want to stay connected with our families. If you do not follow your campus Facebook page, please do so prior to next week! We will still announce birthdays, academic celebrations, and start the day together each morning like we always have, just virtually.

Remote learning will begin Monday, March 23. 

Learning resources will be provided to students via Google Classroom and/or hard copies that will be arranged for pick-up at your campus. If you need access to hard copies, your campus will be sending out an email with directions on how to request that.

Teachers will also email their families individual information on how the students can participate in one live activity with them each day. This is not required, just an optional activity for the students to stay connected with their teachers, who already miss them!

If your child receives services from our exceptional students services (ESS) department, you will receive a separate email communication from your child’s ESS teacher next week to sign-up for virtual services, in addition to information regarding the general education curriculum.

Student Responsibilities 

Students will complete the content packet for the week of instruction and turn in the completed packet by 4 p.m. on Friday. If students have any questions, they will use Google Classroom as a forum to communicate with their teachers.

Students may turn in the work electronically, via Google Classroom or email, or they may turn in the packet to the front office of the school by Friday at 4 p.m. Packets will be available for the following week via pick-up at school each Friday at 3 p.m. or in Google Classroom by 4 p.m. However, for next week, please plan on accessing or picking up packets Monday, March 23. After that, everything will be available each Friday for the following week.

Grading and Attendance

If your child has turned in a completed packet by Friday at 4 p.m. the previous week, your child will be marked as “present” for every school day and will receive 100% for the classwork grade.

If your child has not completed or turned in the packet by Friday at 4 p.m. the previous week, your child will be marked as an “excused absence” and “excused” in the gradebook.

Parent Support

There are two avenues to access your child’s resources: Google Classroom and hardcopies provided by the front office. Please ensure children have a quiet place to work, access to a computer, or pick-up and drop off packet weekly in the school office.

Google Classroom will be accessible to students for online instruction. Parents may access their child’s Classroom account by visiting your Legacy Google Classroom Login Page and entering your Classroom login credentials.

For example, if your child’s birthday is July 16, 2009, the password is “07162009”

  4. Your campus principal will be sending additional campus-specific information to you in the coming days.
