LAS VEGAS – Legacy Traditional Schools, a network of public, tuition-free charter schools in Nevada and Arizona, announced the interest list for its third campus located in southwest Las Vegas is now open.

Legacy Traditional School – Southwest Las Vegas, located at South Rainbow Boulevard and West Wigwam Avenue, will open for the fall 2019-2020 school year to serve students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Parents are now encouraged to sign up on the interest list to prepare for the annual enrollment lottery, which opens in early January 2019.

“Legacy Traditional Schools have a track record of academic achievement and parent satisfaction,” said Candyce Farthing, superintendent of Legacy Traditional Schools in Nevada. “We’re excited to meet the overwhelming demand for school choice in the greater Las Vegas area while providing parents and students with the opportunity to experience Legacy’s back-to-basics, well-rounded approach to learning – and our commitment to developing strong character.”

Plans for Legacy Traditional School – Southwest Las Vegas were approved earlier this year by the Nevada State Public Charter Authority; Burke Construction Group is the general contractor.

The new school will serve up to 1,450 students and has a footprint of 95,000 square feet. The campus includes:

  • 59 classrooms
  • State-of-the-art culinary kitchen where lunch is made fresh daily
  • Indoor artificial turf field
  • Regulation-size hardwood basketball court
  • Piano classroom with headsets to improve learning and retention
  • Athletic fields, two separate playgrounds, and offices

“I have known about Legacy for several years and was eagerly waiting for the school to open in Nevada,” said Tiffany Thomas, a Legacy Traditional Schools’ parent, and school board member. She added, “I watched with excitement when Legacy built its first campus in North Valley and now in Henderson so my own son could attend a Legacy School. The southwest community will benefit greatly with a Legacy campus in their area.”

As the third location in the Valley, the Southwest campus joins Legacy Traditional School – North Valley and Legacy Traditional School – Cadence. Both campuses combined welcomed more than 2,500 students for the fall 2018-2019 school year.
