Online Students Attendance Policy

Schoology Login Requirements

Each online student will be required to log in to Schoology daily to track their attendance, except in the case of illness or an emergency (NRS 392.040).

We understand that during these unprecedented times, parent schedules and traditional school hours may not complement each other. Students may log in to Schoology any time between the hours of 12 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. to complete their schoolwork each day. We do ask that your student at least logs in once a day for attendance purposes.

Required Instructional Time

While online students will still be expected to login daily, Monday through Friday, to be considered present for attendance purposes, they may complete the hourly requirement and their weekly work between Monday and Sunday each week.

In order to help the school track attendance and report it properly to the state, students will be assigned weekly schoolwork each Friday for the following week. The work is designed to meet the required hours from the state. The work is to be completed independently.

  • Teachers will post the weekly materials for their course by 12:00 a.m. the Saturday prior to the start of that week.
  • Teachers will be available during their regularly scheduled contracted time, 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., to answer questions from students or parents. Within one school day, teachers will respond to any student or parent correspondence that takes place outside of working hours.

Reporting Online Student Absences

In the event that a student does not log in to Schoology, we ask that the parent or guardian call and leave a message providing the reason for the absence (non log in) on the school attendance voicemail or email the school attendance email account by 3 p.m. in order for an absence to be “excused.” Please note that an email to the classroom teacher will not suffice. Both the attendance voicemail and email accept messages 24 hours a day. Parents are welcome to call late in the evening or very early in the morning.

*Students who log in between 3 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. will be considered present and their unexcused absence will be adjusted at the end of the week.

Parents may call the front office for assistance if students are unable to log in to Schoology before 3 p.m.

Blended Students Attendance Policy

Each student enrolled in school is expected to be in attendance each day the school is in session, except in the case of illness or an emergency (NRS 392.040).

In the event that a student does not attend school, the parent or guardian must call and leave a message providing the reason for the absence on the school attendance voicemail or email the school attendance email account by 10 a.m. in order for an absence to be considered “excused.” Please note that an email to the classroom teacher will not suffice. Both the attendance voicemail and email accept messages 24 hours a day. Parents are welcome to call late in the evening or very early in the morning.

Phone calls and text messages will be sent at 9:30 a.m. each morning to notify parents of absent students who are still showing as unexcused. Any absent student who has not had a parent contact the attendance office by 10 a.m. will be coded as “unexcused.” An email will be sent at 10:30 a.m. confirming the child’s absence and subsequent attendance code.
