Update on COVID-19

Saturday, March 21, 2020Update on School Closures and Spring Testing in Nevada

Legacy families and staff,

As we prepare for remote learning next week, we want to provide you with updates and clarifications based on information we learned yesterday.

In Governor Steve Sisolak’s Declaration of Emergency Directive 005 released Friday, March 20, 2020, it was confirmed that school buildings will remain closed through April 16, 2020, and will only reopen at the approval of the chief medical officer for the State of Nevada. At Legacy, we continue to anticipate our schools will not reopen until Monday, April 20, 2020.

However, while our school buildings are closed, we will continue to provide students with distance learning opportunities. Click here to read more about our plans. Also, we encourage you to tune in to our first Facebook live virtual flag ceremony on Monday at 8 a.m. on the Legacy district Facebook page!

Furthermore, Governor Steve Sisolak has suspended State testing requirements for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Therefore, SBAC testing will not be administered to Legacy students in Nevada this spring.

During this time, we encourage you to reference our FAQs for Legacy Families, where you will find the latest information related to campus operations and ongoing education opportunities for students.

Thank you for your patience as we work to ensure your children continue to receive quality instruction from our talented Legacy teachers during this unprecedented time. If you have questions about how we can help learning continue during COVID-19 and beyond, please do not hesitate to contact us at communications@legacytraditional.org.

Sincerely,

Eve Breier, Ed.D.
Deputy Superintendent
Legacy Traditional Schools – Nevada
