Legacy Traditional School – Columbia is proudly designated as a “Purple Star School”. Purple Star Schools specialize in supporting military-connected children as they relocate to new schools due to a parent’s change in duty station.

Our campus is committed to supporting military-connected students by providing a welcoming environment, consistent communication, and access to resources that address the unique challenges of military life. Staff are available to assist with transitions, academic continuity, and social-emotional support. We support military-connected children and families by:

• Introducing Military Welcome Ambassador Team that helps introduce new military families and supports existing families
• Providing links to events that highlight activities featuring military students, families, and veterans
• Designating a resource board for students and military families with postings of community and school-wide events, and special interest activities that highlight and support military families
• Hosting school-wide military appreciation events celebrating our military families, which include events like Patriots Day Ceremony, Veterans Day Ceremony, and daily Flag Ceremonies
• Facilitating regular support groups for students of active military parents/guardian
• Providing priority status in the school’s enrollment process for children of active-duty families
