Update on COVID-19

Wednesday, April 8, 2020 Social Emotional Learning Lessons Start Monday

Legacy Families,

With all of the changes happening in our lives, children may experience many emotions, ranging from fear and anxiety to joy and optimism. Now more than ever it is important to help our children understand and manage their emotions while balancing empathy for others.

To help our Legacy students reflect on their feelings and engage with their families, we will be including Social Emotional Learning lessons in your child’s weekly learning packet starting Monday, April 13.

What is Social Emotional Learning?

Social Emotional Learning is how students of all ages manage and comprehend emotions. Through Legacy’s Social Emotional Learning curriculum, students are empowered to set and achieve positive goals, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions every day. Through Social Emotional Learning lessons, students gain a greater understanding of others’ emotions and are able to feel and show empathy to others.

Social Emotional Learning Lessons

These three-page lessons have been designed to provide thoughtful reflection and engagement for students on topics within Legacy’s Social Emotional Learning curriculum. The lessons are age-appropriate and we encourage your child to complete one page, three days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). We have also included an opportunity for parent participation within these journals in the form of a family activity.

In addition to the lessons, teachers will be posting supplementary videos to Google Classroom to further engage your child in the Social Emotional Learning curriculum.

Social Emotional Learning Tips

Along with your child’s weekly learning packet, we are also excited to share that we will be posting daily Social Emotional Learning tips on our Legacy Facebook pages. We encourage you to read these tips to your child and find ways you can both practice these ideas each day.

Here’s the tip for today!
