RISE students of all grade levels recently teamed up to build the RISE County Fair Amusement Park. This project tested the creativity and problem-solving skills of students who were tasked with creating their dream park using everyday materials.

First, the 4th-8th grade students brainstormed and decided what materials would be needed. Once the design was approved, “construction” began! Grades 1-2 were responsible for creating faux-cotton candy, park visitors, and a variety of other creations for the park. Students in grades 3-6 designed benches, arcade games, roller coasters, water parks, concert stages, and even a bus for visitors! Builders even remembered to add vending machines and a restroom for their park guests.

All rides and games were said to be very safe and up to code. The RISE program is designed to challenge academically advanced learners and provide experiences that require critical thinking, problem-solving, independent study skills, advanced communication skills, strategic and extending thinking, and persistence when faced with challenges.
