Legacy Traditional Schools Students Shine at Regional Science Fair

Legacy Traditional Schools’ campuses across Arizona and Nevada are abuzz with scientific ingenuity and engineering prowess as students compete in Regional Science Fair competitions through the end of February 2024. Winners from each competition are eligible to compete at the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair or the Southern Nevada Regional Science & Engineering Fair in March.

In the western region of Arizona, Emily F. from Goodyear took 2nd place with her impressive 5th-grade project in the 5th-6th grade Engineering Division , while Violet V. from Glendale secured 3rd place as a 6th grader. Sabina K. from West Surprise stood out with her 5th-grade project, clinching 1st place. In the Science Division for 5th-6th graders,  Lily V. from Surprise, a 6th grader, earned the top spot, followed by Matthew P. from Deer Valley, a 5th grader, in 2nd place, and Daphne L. from West Surprise, another 6th grader, in 3rd place.

In the 7th-8th grade Science Division, Surprise 8th grader Trinity Q. earned 1st place, Naomi R. from Avondale in 2nd, and Jaleeya M. from Laveen secured 3rd, both also in 8th grade. In the Engineering Division, Maximillian K. from West Surprise, a 7th grader, took 1st place, Eliana H. from Northwest Tucson in 2nd, and Bemihret K. from Glendale in 3rd, both in 8th grade.

Participation in science and engineering fairs is more than just a competition; it is a platform for students to engage in scientific inquiry, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and communicate their ideas effectively. These fairs encourage students to explore their curiosity, innovate, and possibly pave the way for future careers in STEM fields.
